A low-mintage 2 oz. coin that was exclusively for Masters Club members.
The Canadian one-dollar coin, colloquially known as the “Loonie”, was first introduced in 1987. The coin was designed by artist and engraver Robert-Ralph Carmichael, and featured a common loon swimming on the reverse side. The Loonie quickly became a favourite among Canadians, and in 1997, the Royal Canadian Mint released a special 10th anniversary edition of the coin. The anniversary coin was minted in sterling silver, and featured a larger format than the original Loonie. In 2022, the Loonie will celebrate its 35th anniversary, and the Royal Canadian Mint is marking the occasion with the release of the Renewed Silver Dollar coin. The Renewed Silver Dollar coin is minted in 99.99% pure silver, and features selective gold plating and double dates (“1987-2022”) commemorating the Loonie’s 35th anniversary. The Renewed Silver Dollar coin is a beautiful tribute to one of Canada’s most iconic coins, and is sure to be a cherished keepsake for years to come.
