The Gold Sovereign is a British gold coin with a face value of one pound sterling. It was first minted in 1489 under King Henry VII and was last minted in 1604 under King James I. The coin was then reintroduced in 1816 and has been in continuous production ever since. The 1913 Gold Sovereign features King George V on the obverse and the George Dragon design on the reverse. The coin is struck in 22-karat gold and is supplied in a plastic capsule. The coin has a diameter of 22.05 mm and a weight of 7.98 grams. This particular coin is an excellent example of British numismatic history.
